Brittany Country Gite is a cosy cob and stone cottage for two with its own private garden on a 3-acre permaculture smallholding. We grow our own vegetables and fruit, keep free-range chickens, sheep, bees and, during the summer, pigs and ducks. We offer short courses such as sausage making and soap making and sell our own produce.
A short walk will take you to our 11-acre private woodland bordering the river Rance. The circular nature walk has clearings where you can rest and picnic in the sun.
The cottage is situated 15 minutes drive south of the medieval port town of Dinan, in a hamlet a few minutes walk from the village of St. Maden, with its 12th century church, school, small bar and bakery. Around half and hour's drive north will take you to the Emerald Coast with its rocky coves, spacious sandy beaches and turquoise sea. The same drive south will take you to the vibrant regional capital of Rennes, with its famous Saturday market and medieval centre.
You can certainly slow down here: read a book in the shade of the balcony, spend time with the animals, sit by the beautiful wildlife pond, doze on the chamomile lawn or sit by the cosy wood stove. Internet access through WiFi.
