"By the hands of many a great load is lightened."
Roman proverb

We've had several very successful season working with some great volunteers and this year we are sure it’s going to be just as good. We offer free accommodation in our cosy cob holiday cottage and hot tasty meals on workdays in exchange for enthusiastic help from couples or single people.
Our volunteer season normally runs from the 1st December until approximately the end of March. It doesn’t include the immediate Christmas holiday period. Each stay is for a week. Have a look here for availability.

We aim to provide a mix of tasks that match our needs and your skills. The major jobs are working in our 11-acre woodland, which includes creating clearings, bridge and path building, logging, stacking and pole sawing. On our smallholding we’ll be creating boundary and paddock fencing to create a chicken forage area, housing for ducks and securing the area for our new green house build. In addition to this there is plenty of work in the organic gardens; creating a new herb area, improving the potager and animal husbandry and for those with carpentry skill, bird and bat box building and gate making.
We work alongside our volunteers so, if the going gets tough, we’ll be there sharing the experience with you! We’ll be starting in the mornings at 9am after breakfast and will break for coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon with lunch and supper provided by us on all workdays.

The cottage has a new Jøtel wood-burning stove that keeps it really warm and cosy, an en suite shower room with a double bedroom, a small kitchen next to the little living room with its sofa and rocking chair. You can see the cottage in more detail here.
If you're interested and would like to discuss it further or talk about dates, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
